The Deserts of NoMade Horizon Sahara - Morocco

The famous “Red Land”. A landscape of giant dunes with reddish-orange sand, especially beautiful at sunset and sunrise. Cold nights, hot days and wind that can blow strongly. In our itinerary you will spend 2 nights in a Berber camp in the middle of the giant dunes. We do dune walks at sunset, camel rides, musical moments by the campfire, but also moments of total silence at night.

What to wear:

  • During the day: light long-sleeved clothing and loose trousers (protects from sun and sand). Hat or headscarf (Berber turban helps a lot).

  • At night: thermal tops + fleece + windbreaker (temperature can drop significantly).

What to bring:

  • Strong sunscreen (SPF 50+), lip balm, sunglasses with good side protection.

  • Scarf or buff to protect your face from wind/sand.

  • Comfortable footwear for walking in sand (trainers or light boots).

General tips for the Sahara

  • Layered clothing is key: the desert changes temperature a lot between day and night.

  • Avoid pure cotton (it takes a long time to dry). Prefer technical or merino materials.

  • Drink plenty of water throughout the day. Hydration is essential.

  • Bring a small daypack for daytime activities and a larger bag for camp.

  • In the Berber camp the tents are usually double or triple with private toilet, but the comfort is basic and authentic.
